P.R.O.M.I.S.E.
THIS I BELIVE
Having fun
My mom slouched in thorough the door with all here bags and mumbled “I have to pull weeds and then clean the house and then make dinner.” I am thinking to myself she needs a break and moments later the phone rings and she looks at who it is. It’s one of her friends she picks it up, and all of a sudden she is laughing and in such a good mood. That is when I realized that laughing in the world can make anybody happy.
Just like whenever I am staying up with my friends, usually past 3 a.m., we just laugh. We don’t stop, just someone’s laugh can make the rest of us laugh, just goes on and on. We wake up and we are in the best mood, the days go by as if they never started, because anything at all can make you laugh. I feel like the entire burden I had the whole week, of homework, school, disappears.
When we are packing some times we are so stressed that we can’t wait to go out to the desert. My mom and I were getting ready for the desert, we were in a total rush, getting frustrated with everything, that wasn’t one thing that didn’t go good, we ran out of gas, we were yelling screaming and cursing. We finally got to the desert and everybody was there sitting around the campfire, our friends were telling the funniest jokes I have ever heard, and we just broke out into laughter. We felt like our body was clear, our burden was lifted from the last four months of not going out there. We just had the greatest time ever.
Another day laughing tat made me feel better was my first day of B.M.X.ing in a race, I fell when my foot slipped off the pedal, almost hit my head on the crank, my back tire hit the place where your wife aims for when she is mad and I was just about to get passed by a girl, I peddled my hardest to stay in front of her. Even though I was mad because I didn’t get in first, but laughing with mom made that crash so much easier. My elbows felt better, and after recovering I felt like I could have kids again, and this laughter got me ready for that next race in which I ended up placing first. Laughter is like having ice cream; you can’t eat it without feeling good. It’s like watching a Youtube video that says “I bet you can’t watch this without laughing.” There is nothing you can not accomplish when you are in a good mood.

school daze
all day,' Ms. Smith is going to hate you. If you raise your hand and say, 'Gee, Ms. Smith, I haven't
understood a single word you've said all week,' Ms. Smith is going to hate you five times as much. And
if you raise your hand and say, 'Gee, Ms. Smith, I haven't understood a single word you've said all year,'
Ms. Smith is going to pull out a gun and shoot you."
it stanes out becase most amaricans like to judge people, like on the trolley, when people see a hobo all the people will move to the other side and don't talk to him. They do not take the time to see how cool he is. Ms. Smith is judging the students, and she is scapegoated the students, she is not explaining it right and says its the students fault. This Ms. Smith reminds me of my old teacher Ms. Smith she was and old lady who would get mad when the student didn't understand.

The Lady that Never Gave Up
My hero is Adrian, because she is the one that told me about HTHMA. Adrian got me in to this awesome school, and I would not be with such cool teachers and at such a hands on school.
When I was walking up the stairs to high tech high media arts on the first day of school, I thought back to when I was in sixth, seventh, eighth grade. Adrian had to fight with such a hard headed kid that didn’t do well in school grade wise. An average day was me slowly getting off the bus and walking to Adrian house. When I walk in to Adrian’s house she would bring a steaming hot cup of noodles to the table, it smelt like yummy chicken flavor. When I got the food, Adrian said wondering, “What do you have for homework, and open up that planner?” So I pulled out my heavy planner which smelt like a lot of homework. I worked with Adrian for three hours, she would help me stay organized, helped me learn better, in math, English and science; she is my tutor and my advocate. When ever I tried to prove Adrian wrong she always comes up with a true statement or answers, every once and while I would get to prove Adrian wrong.
The thing that made Adrian even more of a hero is the fact she has four jobs, she was my special education advocate, she is a therapist, works 1,500 hours with not so smart attorneys, she is also a management consultant, and most important she is a mother of three. She tutored me and that is a tuff job.
She is so close in my life that she could be considered as another mother to me. I think I am apart of Adrian, I have learned things from Adrian like how to be a good advocate. You can use this to be a good lawyer. Adrian is currently going to school to become a therapist. She teaches me how to think more like a lawyer. She was able to stick up for me, this helped me learn, and the helped me to gain confidence and trust in her. When Adrian means business, owwwww she means business. The only way to make her super proud is to score a 100% or succeed. She wants me to not do so bad in school, to succeed in everyway, to prove her wrong.
Adrian is my hero because of the hard work she put into me, I have raised my grades and worked really hard to get me into High Tech High Media Arts. This is why she is my Hero.

The Power of Halo
My friend Andrew and I plunged down on to the couch to play an awesome game called Halo! Andrew started the game and the music hooked me right away. The music sounded like you where the worlds last shot to save humanity. With a little mixture of rock n roll added in. The makers of halo pull you in to the game you think you’re the man your the master chief every thing is in you control no one can stop you. When you kill an alien you really see the shininess of the blue and purple blood, landing on the ground. That is how detailed the graphics look. Then we get to see the story line and just that makes you want to play halo 2. There are many levels to the game that are so exhilarating. You don’t need to think. You get sucked in mindlessly. If you are number one that is the only way you get lost. The smack talk you can give in multiplayer matches is so great that I can’t even start to talk about. If you kick butt you can just throw it in their face. When you kill a enemy and your adrenalin is pumping throw you, you react with a you gust got pawned or you got owned. If you get killed and are getting owned then you let out a @*%$ you or some thing bad you no. If you are not care full it will become a drug you won’t do well in school and will be lazy. If you’re good at the halo you can make a lot of money winning games professionally. If you suck then you will FAIL unless you get off or can manage it.
Now me I could not manage it at all. It because all I ever do is play this game never stop on till I reached the top. I all most reach the top and my mom shut my internet of and school started so I did all my home work to play halo when I got home. My mom didn’t say anything to me just let me play. I got fat but I still kick butt in athletics. Not even a car can stop me.

The Locker Problem
Shane Saour
10/1/09
Locker problem
When the first kid walked buy and opened all the lockers the second kid closed every other one. The third kid touched every third locker and etc. until 1000 kids go through the lockers. For example the sixths locker was touched four times it ends in a closed state and we know this because six has 4 factors. And the fourth locker has 3 factors. The factors for 4 are 1, 4, and 2. You can’t count the same factor twice.
| 1.O 1x1 1 factor | 2.O C 2x1 2 factors | 3.O C 1x3 2 factors | 4.O O C 1x4 2x2 3 factors | 5.O C 1x5 2 factors |
| 6.O O C C 1x6 2x3 4 factors | 7.O C 1x7 2 factors | 8.O O C C 1x8 4x2 4 factors | 9.O O C 1x9 3x3 3 factors | 10.O O C C 1x10 2x5 4 factors |
| 11.O C 1x11 2 factors | 12.O O O C C C 1x 12 6x2 3x4 6 factors | 13.O C 1x13 2 factors | 14.O O C C 1x14 7x2 4 factors | 15.O O C C 1x15 3x5 4 factors |
| 16.O O O C C 1x16 8x2 4x4 5 factors |
There are 31 perfect squares out of all the lockers. All perfect squares have an odd number of factors.
1. How many lockers are open?
31 lockers
We now this because there is 31 perfect squares within 1,000
2. Witch ones are going to be open.
1,4,9,16,25,ect…..,961 the lockers that are left open are going to be perfect squares.
3. Why do perfect squares have an odd number of factors.
Because you can only count one of the repeating factors.
3a.Why is this significant in the solution?
If the lockers have an odd number of factors then it will be left open
